Wow – is there ever a lot happening around here!
There’s exciting news at Scented Balance, Inc. with new services added to be even more full service in my shop.
I’m not one to let the grass grow under my feet and I appreciate the fine art of learning. So I started a journey – a path forward, if you will.
As of February 5th, I am a Reiki Master Practitioner and as of February 27th, I am a non-denominational ordained Reverend.
It’s okay to scratch your head – I’ll explain!
Reiki Master Practitioner
Reiki is the Japanese practice of stress management in its’ simplest terms. On a more complex level, I work with your energy to help you manage your stress to help promote healing.
The website reiki.org has a really good explanation:
“Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.”
I began my training in September of 2021 and finished the Master training in February 2022. It’s intense training to learn energy healing techniques to help your clients. But the best part is that while learning and training, I have helped myself along a new path that complements aromatherapy.
There’s two ways that I can perform the Reiki treatment – either hands on or hands off. You choose. Either way, I’m using my energy to help you with your energy.
When you come to my studio for a Reiki session, you lie on a massage table (fully clothed except for your shoes). Many times, clients fall asleep during the session as it is so relaxing.
I’ve already begun accepting clients, so give it a try! I believe you’ll be amazed at how you feel.
What’s With The Reverend Title?
There’s a really good reason I became ordained as a non-denominational Reverend. In North Carolina, in order to legally touch someone’s skin (as in a hands-on Reiki practice), you must be licensed or be an ordained Reverend.
Since the ruling Reiki body does not require licensure, the only other option to ensure I am perfectly legal is to be ordained. So I chose that route. I was ordained in person on Sunday, February 27th at a beautiful ceremony in Winston-Salem through the Light and Energy Workers Association based in Wilmington, NC.
What I like about this organization is that it is very inclusive. There’s no requirement to be of a particular religion. I’m not a fan of organized religion, so this fit perfectly with my belief system.
I am legally qualified to perform weddings in all 50 states along with any other rites that life brings along such as the blessing of the animals. I’m not ready to handle speaking at funerals, but I’ll let you know when I am.
A New Path
I’ve done my best to be transparent about my business and my life and long time readers know that I’ve had my share of struggles along the way – as we all have. Y’all know how much I love Aromatherapy and how powerful it is, and now my path has expanded to include Reiki.
This new path – a new chapter even – excites me and makes my heart happy. I would love to serve you to help you get, be and stay healthy!
