Cool off with peppermint, peppermint essential oil,

As much as I love hot, humid weather, even I get a bit overheated at times.

Working out in the yard, playing golf, intense workouts, certain medications and even sitting on the beach all can make you feel hot and tired. Oh, and let’s not forget hot flashes.

And for some, just thinking about a lovely summer day makes them too hot. (Not me!) As you’ll see, a refreshing mist of Peppermint can do wonders to cool you off.

What Happens When You Get Too Hot?

Being hot is one thing, but being too hot is quite another. Healthy bodies are able to regulate temperature when it’s too hot but when you overheat, you may have these symptoms:

  1. Tingling skin
  2. Goosebumps
  3. Headache
  4. Nausea
  5. No sweating

Being in the sun for an extended time also causes dehydration – even when you think you’ve had plenty of water. If you sense any (or all!) of these symptoms, get into the shade or into a place that is cooler. Drink room temperature water which allows your muscles to absorb the much needed moisture.

Most of the time, we’re just hot and would love to cool off a bit and that’s where Peppermint essential oil comes in!

Peppermint Essential Oil When You’re Hot

Ahh…the cooling scent of Peppermint is one of my favorites. You know how your mouth feels really cool when you chew on a mint? That’s the same effect as Peppermint.

Menthol – one of the major chemical components of Peppermint – is what cools you.

natural mosquito repellent, non-greasy bug spray, DEET Free Mosquito RepellentIt can also sharpen your senses so you feel alert and energized. It’s one of the oils I use in Skeeter-Off Bug Repellent for Adults (not kids under 10!) and in Flares n’ Flashes Hot Flash Spray Flares N Flashes Hot Flash Mist both products are very cooling to your skin and smell amazing!

Peppermint essential oil is a wonderful oil for those times when you have gas, bloating, nausea or minor pain. It’s a great oil to keep on hand for everyday use.

Here’s how you can make your own spray:
