Over a period of two weeks in July, she unplugged from serious business and treated us to films of her magical monkey business in August. Which made me start to thinkĀ  about my own work-life balance. Didja smell the smoke from all that thinking?

I’d like to be very honest here. Right now, balance seems non-existent.

Here I’m supposed to be this calm and centered aromatherapist and holistic life coach available to guide you toward getting unstuck in every area of your life and enjoy the process.

Right now, it feels like anything but balanced.

Has it been that kind of summer for you? Did it go by so damned fast that you barely saw the sunshine? Did you get any real down time or play time at all?

Nope.

Which is why I’m taking a short break from writing in my blog about such serious business to make time for a little monkey business. I’d like to share that little bit of monkey business in my personal life and in my practice with you.

We all need a break to recharge our batteries, to feel refreshed and to restore sagging energy. Even the strongest among us need a moment to catch their breath. And that’s where I am today as I write this.

I try to plan out my posts and research the information I present so that you receive something worth reading every single week. Have I hit it out of the park every week? Most likely – no.

So, in the spirit of not hitting it out of the park every single time, take a moment in your insanely over-packed, stressful day to enjoy a little monkey business with Marie:

 

 

Just taking the five minutes to watch Wisdom From Nanny gave my heart a much needed boost. I hope Marie – and I (by sharing) – brought a little bit of sunshine to your day, especially if you’ve been slogging through the summer. It’s a sweet primer on what to do when your bored, experiencing burn out or need some stress relief.

I’ve often heard that the new year begins when the kids go back to school and it’s that time (already?) again. So, let’s all take a moment in this “new year” to promise ourselves more play time, more time with those people who make us smile, more time to de-stress, more time to do whatever creative thing recharges our batteries and more time to love ourselves and our tribe.

Fun Things To Do When You’re Bored, Experiencing Burn Out Or Need Stress Relief

Tell me: what makes you absolutely glow – what are some fun things to do that make you happy? Is it making time to draw; taking a short camping trip or a trip to the beach (oh yeah!), swinging in the hammock under a tree; fishing; or is it sharing a bottle of wine and laughter with good friends? When’s the last time you had a water balloon fight? Why not get some colored pencils and an awesome adult coloring book and see what happens?

For me, right now, I’m making a book with my dreams in it. I’m not ready to share those dreams, but believe me, they are in living color and speak to my soul. My dream book is not just a private board on Pinterest, but a real live book with real pages filled with real dreams.

Think of the fun activities that recharge your batteries and take time to do that – today – right now. Life is short and precious and it goes by oh-so-fast.
