How’s your stress level lately? Feeling bone weary in a world gone mad? Me, too. It’s mental exhaustion and coping with long term stress.
Nerves are frayed and on edge from the last few months of enduring a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. While I’m an introvert (no, really) I miss my tribe – in particular the hugs. (Yes, I’m one of those people.) That’s been the most stressful for me.
I’m tired of feeling frazzled, tired of everyone being so angry, tired of the mask debate – tired of wondering what’s next.
What about you?
I don’t give into the mental exhaustion, but sometimes, it sure is hard to keep going with a perky attitude when you’ve burned out both ends of your candle.
Am I the only one?
Scanning Facebook this morning was an adventure. So many people were just plain ol’ pissed off about all the fireworks in their neighborhood. Wait – I thought fireworks were a welcome hallmark of Independence Day!
What happened?
Well, looks like EVERYBODY and their brother got fireworks with buy 1 get 50 free. And they’ve been shooting them off for a whole week. And everybody’s over it.
Tired, cranky and mentally exhausted.
Coping With Long Term Stress
We’re dealing with a new normal and maybe that’s a good thing. Change is a good thing but it’s stressful even under the best of circumstances.
Not everyone likes change (you can tell that by the mask debate) and it can cause long term stress and mental exhaustion.
So, what can you do about mental exhaustion when you’re coping with long term stress?
Use aromatherapy.
Look, your mental exhaustion may not be because of a pandemic (then again, maybe it is). You may be a caregiver for an elderly parent or a special needs child. You may be a health care professional, delivery person or work in a grocery store full of cranky people.
Bless you all.
We have bills to pay and families to care for so we can’t quit, we can’t give up and we can’t give in. And that’s where aromatherapy shines.
Here are some pure essential oils that will help you cope with long term stress:
- Honey Myrtle – this beautiful oil refreshes your mind, body, and spirit, helping to reduce both emotional and physical fatigue.
- Sweet Basil – this essential oil is incredibly uplifting and often increases mental clarity.
- Rosemary – this oil encourages mental clarity as well as energizes and uplifts the mind during challenging moments. (Now is good!)
- Ho Wood – this oil is used to promote a calm, relaxed feeling and reduce stress.
Any of these oils can be diffused in a cold mist diffuser. Simply add a 5 or 6 drops total and let it run for an hour – even two hours if you like.
Don’t have these oils? Brain Fog Synergy Blend has all of these oils and more to help you with emotional and mental exhaustion.
What else can you do?
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! I see more people in my aromatherapy practice for help with stress that simply will not listen to their body. If you’re tired mentally or physically, take a short break. Please. I know you have a lot on your plate, but pushing to the point of exhaustion is making this situation worse!

Kindness matters. Kindness to yourself is real and real important. Lemme tell ya – I’ve learned this the hard way. When you’re kind to yourself, you’ll be kinder to others and we all need kindness right now. I can’t stress this enough. If it helps, please remember that angry people are in pain and I believe we’re all a little angry right now.
Big deep belly breaths. Stress causes us to breath very shallow from the top of our lungs. Taking deep belly breaths allows you to reach the pure oxygen at the bottom of your lungs which helps you to relax. Breathe in deeply through your nose and breathe out slowly from your mouth. Do this three times in a row every time you feel like you’re going to pop a gasket.
Move your body. Do whatever you’re able to do. Even if it’s only for 5 or 10 minutes. It doesn’t have to be vigorous, just move. Yoga, stretching, walking – any of these will help you work off some stress.
I’m with you. I’m tired and doing my best to cope with the long term stress of something that may not go away for quite a while. So, please believe me when I tell you I use my own products. I create blends to support your emotional and mental wellbeing. And we need them now more than ever.
Why?
Because we live in an angry world that could easily consume us if we let it. But I won’t let it. I will keep making amazing blends to help you with your mental, physical and emotional health concerns.
Reach out and tell me what you need (please stop saying “oh nothing – I’m fine”). You can reach me through my contact form, through email and phone. Okay?
I’m with you all the way – be well and many blessings to you and yours!
