Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)
The seventh chakra is known as the crown and is located at the very top of your head.
The crown chakra governs spirituality and is your link between the earthly realms and the universe – or whatever higher power you choose to believe in. It’s where your deep inner wisdom resides as well as your practical spirituality.
This chakra relates to the pituitary gland and the hormones that it regulates in the endocrine system. It’s the seat of trust, faith, inspiration and deep happiness from within.
The seventh energy center is responsible for inner peace, a sense of knowing there’s a deeper meaning to life than just what’s in front of you; it’s a sense of knowing there’s a grand order that underpins our existence.
The crown chakra is closely associated with the color purple but also the color white. Purple quite aptly represents imagination and spirituality. The website Empowered By Color says this about the color purple (and violet):
Purple or violet assists those who seek the meaning of life and spiritual fulfillment – it expands our awareness, connecting us to a higher consciousness. For this reason it is associated with transformation of the soul and the philosophers of the world are often attracted to it.
In the meaning of colors, purple and violet represent the future, the imagination and dreams, while spiritually calming the emotions. They inspire and enhance psychic ability and spiritual enlightenment, while, at the same time, keeping us grounded.
When your crown chakra is balanced, you have an understanding of the world around you as well as the intricacies of the entire universe, you possess deep wisdom to understand signs that the universe puts in front of you and knowledge of that which is seen and unseen.
If you have a blockage in your crown chakra, you may experience:
- a feeling of being scattered
- no direction in life
- the inability to shake bad moods
- struggling to make decisions
- loss of faith in yourself and the universe
- fear and cynicism
Physical imbalances in the crown chakra may show up as:
- feeling very tired for no reason
- muscle and skeletal issues
- chronic headaches
- feeling off balance
- anxiety and panic attacks
You may even have a sense of trying to remember something that was forgotten yet very important – possibly from a past life.
How To Balance Your Crown Chakra
There’s several simple ways to balance your crown chakra to ensure it’s cleansed, open and flowing which correlates to better health overall.
Yoga is wonderful for calming and balancing your whole system. Practicing yoga teaches you good breathing habits and helps with mindfulness. Yoga allows you to tune into your spirit by simply listening.
Silence (or meditation) and sunlight help to open and balance your crown chakra. Sitting in a comfortable position with the sunlight shining on the top of your head – in silence – is very beneficial.
Stones are very helpful to balance your chakras. Some good stones for balancing your crown chakra are:
- White Calcite for clearing your mind of clutter
- Amethyst to help with clarity of the mind
- Selenite for clearing toxic energies from the auric field
For just a few minutes every day, envision a pure white ray of light pouring through your body from the top of your head.
Herbs, spices and foods that can be used for balance of the seventh chakra include those that are purple, violet, white or golden in color such as:
- purple grapes
