This week, it’s not about aromatherapy – it’s about shopping small. We’re gearing up for the holiday season and this year, more than ever, shopping with small local businesses is important.
Immediately going online to shop has become a way of life. I get that. I do it, too because sometimes I have no choice and I know it’s the same for you. But why do we keep going to Amazon? Why don’t we think of local folks who could really use our business?
Can I just throw this out there?
Let’s shop outside the box this year. This holiday season will be very different from what we’re used to. We may not be able to gather in huge numbers because of the “adventure” we’re living through.
So, instead of buying stuff that has to be dusted, may I make a few suggestions?
Ways to Shop Local Without Leaving Home
We’re buying gifts for our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and friends – maybe even close business associates. You can support small local businesses and still shop online.
I call it shopping outside the box.
I’m also going to shout out two new services I offer: a Biofeedback scan takes 5 minutes and you get a report about what’s going on with your body to make more informed healthcare choices. The second service is an Ionizing Detox Foot Spa perfect gift for those who want to reduce inflammation and release toxins in their body. You can call me directly and purchase a gift certificate – easy peazy!!
Have a sports enthusiast on your list? Softgolf at Tanglewood is family friendly and loads of fun. You can purchase a pass for next season.
Who is the small business owner in your life who’s struggling with marketing? Terri Watkins of Spinfrogs has it going on! Why not buy one hour of marketing help for them? That’s a gift that keeps on giving!
What about your parents and grandparents? Could they (or you) use some help getting groceries? Tamika at Honey Bee Grocery Delivery is awesome! She has formed relationships with many local grocery stores and can get exactly what you need and bring it to your door.
Your best friend wants to be pampered. Ramey Dawn Wellness Spa offers massage therapy, mani/pedis, facials, acupuncture and more.
Who doesn’t LOVE a massage! Tina Hopkins of Soul Fire Therapeutic Massage is amazing!
Family photos and headshots make perfect gifts. Two of my favorite people are gifted photographers: Natalie Sahloff of Sail Off Photography and Alyson Rorem of Jasper & Fern both offer amazing headshots and other kinds of photos. I’ve had photos taken with both of them and I actually like how I look in them! :)
Your favorite teenager will need an oil change for her car. Twin City Automotive offers full service car care and they are reasonably priced – I switched to them this year and they take good care of me and my car. You’ll love them!
Would you like to teach yoga? Kristen at K10 Yoga offers training as well as classes. It’s a great way to get into shape and breathe better – it’s a great gift idea!
Your personal energy needs hygiene just like your body does. Tressa Krenzer offers gift certificates for Lovingkindness Reiki and Yoga – this is a perfect gift for someone who endures chronic stress or anxiety.
Next spring will be here faster than you know. Who on your list needs a spring clean up in their yard? You can contact Angela Ruiz of On Time Lawn Care and purchase a clean up from them for your favorite homeowner!
There’s also many local shops whose owners work hard to provide a safe shopping space for you – including me. Shifting just 10% of your holiday shopping dollars to small local businesses makes a huge difference. Your support is needed now more than ever.
Please – this year instead of buying more things that we need to dust, treat those on your gift list to products and services that enhance their life. What can you add to this list? Let me know in the comments!
